Taylor James is a Creative Production studio based in New York, LA and London that helps leading agencies and brands worldwide tell memorable stories and create powerful campaigns for print, digital and broadcast media.

As leaders in integrated productions with a unique mix of creative alchemy and robust production management, we originate concepts and provide full cross-platform solutions by seamlessly integrating design, CGI, animation, photography, live-action and post-production under one roof. Our focus is to produce complete productions from concept to completion and to partner with our clients in collaborative process to develop creative content.

Having operated out of London since 1999, the New York office of Taylor James opened in 2011. The growth of Taylor James New York has been dramatic and we moved in to a new studio space in 2014 that now houses 30 full time staff. We fully intend for this growth to continue based upon increased sales in all service areas.

The role

In alignment with the Managing Director’s vision and leadership, the Executive Producer / Director of Business Development for the Taylor James NYC Studio will drive the business development strategy across North America.  Working in collaboration with the MD, Group Marketing Director as well as other senior staff you will initiate a range of promotional and client facing activity to build the Taylor James brand.  Working alongside other EPs and the Head of Production You will also play a key role in nurturing Production staff and the Production department.

You will be responsible for promoting and selling all of Taylor James’ capabilities and offerings and determining how these are positioned and presented to clients.  You will lead the New Business Development team to generate leads and maximize the conversion of opportunities into live work through ensuring our pitching and client management approach is as strong as possible.

You will mentor producers / project managers.  You will help ensure that all elements of the production process align to produce top quality profitable projects that meet and exceed the expectations of our clients.  You will ensure solutions are viable whilst stretching TJs capabilities.  You will also engage with 3rd parties and use your network to forge partnerships that help the business to grow.

Main aspects of the role:

  • Leadership and communication. You will have a senior role and be an important voice for Taylor James across North America.
  • Business Development – Working closely with the MD, Group Marketing Director and leading the New Business Development teams across the US, you will ensure we build brand recognition, credibility and continuously win work and the opportunity to bid for work from our agreed target markets.
  • Team development and management.  Once you are bedded in you will assume management of the Business Development teams across North America and also hold an important role as a mentor for Producers and Production teams.
  • Key relationships – The development of strong relationships with clients, industry figureheads and suppliers is essential.   As a service provider, our success is built on relationships and effective account management.
  • Production Management / Mentoring – You will use your experience to mentor and develop TJ Producers.

Essential Requirements

In addition to being a highly motivated, organised multitasker with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, the following technical skills are a must:

  • Proven track record to grow new business and convert on sales opportunities.
  • Thorough knowledge of Taylor James’ offering, core strengths and capabilities and how these are positioned / presented to clients to align with their goals.
  • Thought Leader with views and opinions on the industry and the ability to effectively communicate these in written or verbal presentation to a range of audience types.
  • Seasoned in a client services and account management with proven ability to nurture long term relationships with multi-million $ engagements with multiple project tracks and teams.
  • Ability to create strong relationships with co-workers that you line manage as well as those you have peer relationships with and others you liaise with in other teams.
  • Ability to manage teams and mentor individuals.
  • Ability to harness multiple Sales / Production teams in different territories in pursuit of one unified goal.
  • Proven ability to generate reports and present to senior management on sales performance and activities.
