Taylor James is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our New York office. The position will see you embark on a large scale re-write of an internal pipeline tool to refactor and significantly advance, develop and deploy this new technology across the business. The tool is core to our pipeline and will be refactored to become agnostic and platform independent whilst delivering significant advances to the underlying feature set in line with a predetermined core architecture and technical specification.
Expertise and a strong understanding of the CGI pipeline along with a deep understanding of Python and C/C++ will be crucial to the project. Alongside this, a thorough understanding of UI principles, design and the ability to independently problem solve will be key.
The candidate will be responsible for seeing the project through from concept to completion under the review of department heads in both the NY and London office. They will be responsible for the development, implementation, planning and deployment of the tool which will require collaboration across multiple departments, all of whom will feed into the development, functionality and implementation of the final product guided by a detailed tech spec.
We will be looking for the candidate to bring an energy and enthusiasm to the project along with their own experience of pipeline development to create tools which are embraced across the business.
Experience programming in C/C++ and python
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent
Experience with Windows/ LINUX application development
Ability to design and implement systems from concept to completion with a proven track record of projects which have been delivered to a similar scope.
Knowledge of node based systems development and frameworks.
Knowledge of UI design and standard UI toolkits, specifically QT/PyQT.
Knowledge of Maxscript and Mel a bonus.
Knowledge of a CGI or VFX pipeline across print, digital and TVC content production.
Knowledge of computer graphics concepts and plugin development for DCC platforms.
Knowledge of file formats and data representations used in Animation and Visual Effects.
Knowledge of 3DS Max, Maya, Nuke and Deadline a big plus.
Knowledge of Jira or a repository based approach to development.
5-7 years of experience creating DCC applications for CGI / VFX based around existing animation pipelines.
Excellent team working ability and collaborative attitude towards producing the best tools possible.
Ability to converse in both written, verbal and structured ways to aid in the development of the tools.
Excellent personal time management and scheduling.
Experience with Agile production principles for software development.
Demonstrates a passion for software development which translates into the final product.
