This image was a personal collaboration with Simon Plant who as an automotive photographer was interested to see the benefits of CGI over conventional photography. We specifically chose ‘Wookie Hole’ as the location as we felt it tested our ‘REALWorld rendering™’ procedures. With no natural light source it is very difficult lighting a CGI car, so we used a HDRi dome as the base and then added additional CG lights to mimic the natural environment. As you can see we firstly extended the background plate to create a more dramatic crop. The car angle was selected first to get the best viewpoint, and then re-worked the foreground rocks to keep the carnaturally bedded on the ground. The headlight area was created using
parts of different underwater lights within the caves.
