The Hero in All of Us
The American Heart Association and CDM New York approached us to collaborate on an animated short celebrating three inspiring young people who are contributing to the AHA’s fight against heart disease and stroke. "The Hero in All of Us" is designed in the vein of traditional superhero imagery and typography; our artists built the film from the ground up- from concepting and script writing to direction and post-production

We blocked out the animatic with 3D camera moves and the animated comic book transitions. Our team worked in a traditional 2D animation workflow (drawing each frame by frame, rather than tweaking between key frames). Characters were animated as 2D cards, which were dropped back into the 3D camera moves. In the comping stage, we brought everything together combining the 2D character animation, 3D assets, illustrated background elements, lighting and VFX to create the final shots.
