Bose

Smart Soundbar 900

Continuing our long working relationship with Bose, we collaborated with them to introduce their new Smart Soundbar 900 as an integrated campaign, delivering a hero spot, supporting product videos, and an extensive still photography component.

The campaign, using a mix of live-action, VFX and CGI, conveys how the Bose Soundbar 900 will make the audience feel "immersion, like you've never felt."

Pitch Storyboard

We created a thorough pitch deck for the client, detailing our approach to each facet of the campaign, presenting storyboards and mood boards for the films and photography. Our goal was to create awe-inspiring, cinematic visuals that show what it's like to be truly immersed in the audio landscape of a film, provided by the Bose Soundbar 900 in customers' home theatres. We felt this would be more impactful than a cut and dry, more transactional promo full of specs, data, or spatial explanations.

Story Video

While the campaign video provides an emotional pull, the product videos highlight features and benefits of the soundbar 900, such as voice control and the simple sync app, in a more informational way.

Pre-Production Style Frames

We imagined that the particles exist as an organized 3D grid that remains unseen when there is no positional audio being conveyed. Like actual audio waves, the particles will vibrate as they are affected by adjacent particles moving. A transference of energy allows the particles to move in waves.

Production VFX Exploration (Main Particles)

We experimented with different wave types, before deciding on a look that closely resembles how sound truly works, and creates a particle effect and look unique to the spot.

Pre-Production Animatic

Production Live-Action Shoot

We shot the live action in Mexico. Our hero's performance is subtle and subdued, keeping the sound the star of the spot. Our hero's journey is conveyed with the slightest of gestures, looks, and a smile; He is engaged on a sonic and sensory level, reacting to the unexpected positional aspects of the sounds, like the clarity of the directionality and the immersion brought to the cinematic experience.

The camera moves to create a visual symphony that frames each sound, with movement and cuts that match the overall rhythm of the piece.
