Art With Watson

We were honored to create work for Ogilvy’s Art with Watson exhibition at the Cadillac House in New York. There is a lot of discussion around how man sees machine; Art with Watson is an examination in how machine sees man. Watson has the ability to discover new insights that challenge the way that we look at the familiar, our creative team was asked to make a portrait of Charles Darwin that was informed by Watson’s insights.

PRE PRODUCTION | BEHIND THE SCENES

With portraiture, it’s hard to see beyond the surface. Artists must rely on their intuition as inspiration, Ogilvy wanted to see what portraits could look like with Watson as the inspiration to help capture a subject’s true nature. Cognitive technology is the perfect complement to human intelligence, the real potential for technology and enhance human potential. At Taylor James, our R&D department, technologists, and artists often use technology to enhance our creative output in new and unique ways, and we were honored to be asked to use Watson’s insights to inform and inspire our creative decisions.

Charles Darwin loved puzzles and enjoyed games- he and his wife had a very strict backgammon schedule: 2 games every evening between 8 and 8:30pm and he kept records of every game. Our portrait was printed on a large puzzle, inviting onlookers to interact with the piece and discover a new side of Darwin.
