Super Raffle Hour Glass

The Michigan Lottery approached us to create a commercial for their "Super Raffle" lottery game that conveyed immediate urgency and the game's massive winning potential. The core concept revolved around the idea that there are countless prizes to win, but time and tickets were running out.

In preproduction, we focused on defining a single, powerful visual metaphor: a larger-than-life hourglass. Our initial explorations fine-tuned the scale and materials—the glass needed to feel premium and immense, and the sand was to be replaced entirely with the red Super Raffle tickets. We established the visual tone as dynamic, high-contrast, and focused on movement, setting the stage for the dramatic and beautiful CG execution.

Production Previz

Our final CG animation for the Michigan Lottery Super Raffle was a high-energy visual realization of the campaign's core message: "Time is running out, get your MI Lottery Super Raffle ticket today." By leveraging high-fidelity CG simulations and dramatic camera work, we delivered a piece that was visually unforgettable and immediately drove home the scarcity and excitementof the Super Raffle.

  1. Massive Ticket Simulation: We developed a complex physics based system to accurately simulate thousands of red raffle tickets funneling through the hourglass. The tickets needed to maintain the look of paper while flowing with urgency, emphasizing the limited nature of the game.

  2. Dynamic Camera Movement: A continuous, rotating camera sweep was implemented to enhance the sense of drama and scale. This motion captured the dizzying descent of the tickets and the colossal size of the hourglass, underscoring the high stakes.

  3. The Gold Rush: To convey the grand prize, the scene was enhanced with floating $100 bills and floating gold particle effects. Careful lighting and texturing of these elements ensured they looked hyper-realistic and instantly communicated wealth and excitement.

The final animation required mastering three key technical challenges to deliver the high-impact message.
