SUNRISE MEDICAL

Nitrum

Sunrise Medical is a global designer and manufacturer of personal mobility products, with distribution in 130 countries around the world. With the release of their newest wheelchair Nitrum, Sunrise Medical looked to stay on the cutting edge of innovation within the healthcare sector; They invited us, with our Tag family, to discuss online specification and visualisation.

Our team quickly gained an understanding of Sunriseʼs marketing, launch and online chair modification requirements, proposing a WebGL development which would utilise their existing CAD assets to deliver their customers an interactive experience through any web browser. The Nitrum Visualiser allows customers to create their unique design which can then be shared with family and friends via social media channels or passed to their Sunrise dealer for further personalisation assistance and purchase.

PRE PRODUCTION | UI / UX design

To allow maximum accessibility, a web browser was selected to host the Nitrum visualizer. It was important to Sunrise that our solution have the flexibility to deliver a high standard of product appearance across various cellular networks and mobile devices; this lead us to a WebGL solution. We prepared Sunrise’s 3D data within the same pipeline we use for high-end automotive projects; this allows us to maximize the fidelity of the data, while keeping the database lean. Given that each bit of data would be supplied on-demand based on user selection, rather than the entire dataset being downloaded each time, preparing how the data would be used was imperative.

In parallel, our UI/UX designers entered a discovery phase with Sunrise, to understand the key stages of their customer journey. These ideas were quickly turned into wireframes to share with the project team.

PRODUCTION | REALTIME

A realtime solution was the clear solution to Sunrise’s needs; it would deliver a personal interaction between customers and their potential chair — a tool of momentous importance in their life.

Our team at Taylor James was incredibly impressed by the level of modification available to Nitrum customers, and the design considerations present in every chair.

FINAL

We were able to deliver Sunrise Medical an innovative sales tool that really supports their customers and dealers in the complex chair specification and modification process. From the visualizer, they can select a range of colors and options; these customer requirements are then populated into an order form, as the basis for their personalised Nitrum chair.

From the prepared assets, we were able to deliver additional high resolution material for Sunrise’s marketing campaigns. The video shows the chair as the powerful tool it will be in the user’s life.

Additionally, we developed an AR visualizer to allow customers to see the Nitrum in their home environment, building a connection between the customer and their chair. Our 3D team and developers insured that the level of detail present in the AR Nitrum was uniform to the appearance of the models on Sunrise's site. This tool has proven to be incredibly useful during the current challenges we face from the COVID-19 pandemic, dealers are utilizing this AR tool to work with customers remotely. Sunrise dealers have been able to use the online AR visualizer to help customers who have been unable to visit their dealerships, explaining options and features of the chair to the clients safely and remotely.
