Pacifico

PACIFICO

As beer lovers, we were excited to work on this social spot for Pacifico and expand our portfolio of liquids work.
After being briefed on the project, we created a pitch laying out our prospective approach. We looked to seamlessly combine live-action plates, slow motion captured beer, and an array of compositing wizardry into one crisp sequence. This was all to be done in a quick, two-week timeline.

PRE-PRODUCTION | DEVELOPMENT

Keeping in mind that "it’s what's behind the label that counts," we wanted the logo to draw attention first, then the beer, and then the surroundings.

PRODUCTION | the beer pour

We aimed to have the pour feel like your pal is pouring from bottle to glass just off camera. We looked to build on this authenticity for a pour that builds into each environment, and motivates the viewer to get outdoors and explore, with Pacifico as refreshment.

The first question to tackle was "how do you pour into a virtual glass?" While most would assume we built the pour in CGI, that was not the ideal solution given the tight, two-week timeline. Shooting the pour instead allowed us to easily capture this element, while working in parallel on the spot’s other components.

POST PRODUCTION | ENVIRONMENT

We aimed to shoot a handful of hero scenes: the beach, sand dunes, and campsite. We presented a booklet of what these scenes could like look during our initial pitch. To make these scenes a reality, we worked remotely with our Mexico team — something we've become accustomed to during Covid.

While we considered a live action shoot of these locations, CGI and VFX was the way to go due to schedule constraints. We shot the foregrounds on a sound stage, and switched out things like the surfboards, coolers, and snowboarding gear. The ocean was sourced from stock.

These elements seamlessly blended together to show that "it's behind the label that matters." Crammer-Krasselt was so pleased with our work that on wrap day, they sent us another brief.
